The Sarawak International Band, Orchestra & Choir Festival returns for four days of world-class music-making and cross-cultural exchange, hosted by The Band Lab Kuching and Japan at the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA), UNIMAS, Kuching. Over 2–4 September, musicians train through sectionals, instrument lessons, and massed "tutti" rehearsals led by an outstanding faculty — including Japanese Guest Conductor Ken-ichi Watanabe, visiting Japanese university players, and professional tutors from Singapore, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Everything builds toward the Finale Gala Concert on September 5 at the Experimental Theatre, FACA, where participants premiere a brand-new medley of Sarawakian folk songs arranged by local composer Yeo Chow Shern, alongside works spanning film, musical theatre, and Malaysian classics. Between rehearsals, the Community Kamek sessions, and off-stage activities, let you dive into Sarawak's cultural heritage and build a genuine global network of musical friends.
